It’s been one week since Ishmael moved to the farm. Today was a momentous day because he got the water tower installed! The farm gets water from a well or a borehole. (In Zimbabwe, they wouldn’t call it a well if it’s only the size of a pipe and has a pump attached to the top.) The pump is solar powered and therefore runs only during daylight hours. When the sun gets high, the pump is so efficient that it had been blasting water at high pressure through holes in the old pipes connected to the borehole.
Today, all that changed. Now, the water from the pump is pumped into a brand new tank at the top of a tall stand. The height of the stand adds pressure to the water day and night, and a new tap at the base of the stand means we now have running water at the farm! Eventually, this same tank should be able to water crops and provide running water to the house.
It is truly miraculous how God has been getting things moving at such a terrific rate!
In these pictures, (beginning from the top left) you can see the new tap, the frame for the water tank being prepared, the installation of the new water tank, and the finishing touches to seal the pipes. The blue tank in the background is the old tank. We will be able to repurpose to irrigate fields further from the water tower.
