Welcome back to the farm, everyone!
This week, on July 4th, it will be the two-year anniversary of Ishmael moving to the farm full time. So many changes have happened, and we are excited to share all the wonderful things ADONAI has been doing on the farm!
First of all, we now have two beautiful cows named Texas and Midrand. Midrand was pregnant when we bought her at the beginning of the year, and she birthed a tiny baby calf named Stallion last month! He is the newest celebrity on the farm, healthy and following after his mom to learn the ropes!
Two other celebrities are KC and JoJo, our new trusty guard pups. Ishmael bought them in January, and they have grown large and started to guard the property well. Monkeys had been a problem in the past since they are large and steal vegetables, but the pups are so good at chasing them that they really aren’t a problem anymore. They also attack and eat the rats which had been eating the baby chicks!
Because of this new system to protect the chickens, we’ve decided it is finally time to start raising meat birds. Ishmael planted out some new pasture lines for them, and they are due to be delivered to the farm on Tuesday! Here is a picture of their future home:
We also have a pond full of tilapia! They are now eating duck weed and azola that we grow in special ponds for them. Ishmael also planted beautiful, nutritious moringa trees all around the pond so that when the leaves fall, it feeds the fat fishes.
We still would appreciate your prayers about the future, specifically about the plant crops and our upcoming meat chicken project. Please pray that we have time, energy, focus, and vision to accomplish everything that God has laid out for us!
