The relationship between G_D, Man & Earth
Then Adonai, G_D, formed a person from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, so that he became a living being.
-Genesis 2:7(CJB)-
According to the above scripture, the physical aspect of man is made entirely of dust… Earth. There is no element in physical man which is not derived from Earth and her atmosphere. A scientific analysis of the make-up (composition) of man has proved this to be true. Our diagram illustrates this.
What is interesting however is; how does the human body get carbon, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulphur, and the other trace elements from the soil? It would be easy if we could just eat soil directly. But we cannot. This is why humans (and also many other species) need plants.
The material of the body of man is made of Earth. In order to build and sustain his body, he has to eat the material of Earth every day. He has to eat that which is in soil. However, man cannot digest (extract) nutrients directly from the soil. So G_D created the plant to serve man in the manner described in the diagram…
The role of the plant in Creation is to dig into the soil with its roots and extract these nutrients. Each type of plant extracts a unique combination of elements in a deliberately unique proportion in order to meet a specific purpose for the human body
Speaking in a very simplified, direct way, these elements extracted from the soil are then processed (cooked) within the plant using the energy of the sun in order to serve a ready-made meal in the form of a grain, vegetable or fruit, which gives the human body the ingredients it needs in a form that can be digested by the body.
So in summary, we have established that the plant is the intermediary that makes it possible for man to eat Earth that the human body is made of. As man exerts energy, he ‘spends’ this Earth in his body. So he has to keep eating Earth in order to sustain his body.
Can you already see why for our own sakes it is so important that we must be certain of the integrity of the soil under the plants that feed us?
So with the aid of the plant, Earth is brought in an upward direction from the ground to man in order to sustain him physically. Plants in gesture even seem to reach out and offer man their fruit… We can express the relationship between Earth and Man diagrammatically as follows;
“… and breathed into his nostrils the Nishmat chayyim (breath of life); and the adam (man) became a nefesh chayyah (living soul).”
-Genesis 2:7 (OrthodoxvJewish Bible)-
According to the above scripture, it was only when G_D breathed into the human nostrils into his body the Nishmat chayyim (the soul of life), that man became a living soul. And as we know, when the Breath of G_D leaves the human body, life in human form on Earth for the soul of a man ceases.
This implies that it is the breath (Spirit) of HaShem that sustains man spiritually. Man feeds himself spiritually by maintaining prayer and communion in various forms with G_D. We can illustrate this principle by the following diagram;
So in summary...
In order to sustain man’s life on Earth, he has the responsibility to maintain his physical body by consuming Earth correctly and to maintain his soul by feeding from the spirit of G_D through prayer, gimilut chasadim (acts of loving kindness) and living in constant communion with G_D. We can illustrate this relationship by the diagram above;
LIFE Farming exists to mend and restore these relationships optimally in the context of farming and food production systems. We, the founders of LIFE Farming cannot do this alone. We are only part of the community that G_D is building in order to perform this work. G_D has put a unique piece of the puzzle in all of us. Some of you out there have critical ideas, information and skills to contribute. Some have resources, some are intercessors… the list goes on.
The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to Adonai of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
