LIFE Farms started as an idea to consolidate food production in the Zimbabwe fast food market, but it quickly grew in scope. When Ishmael Mashingaidze began training in sustainable farming practices, he realized farming is a valuable yet forgotten resource. Mass production and factory farming were changing farming techniques all over the country, but industrial food production overlooks key elements of the natural process food goes through from seed to plate.
LIFE Farming connects people to their food, and food to its roots! We teach about the way God designed natural systems that support every living thing. Within these systems, sustainable farming maximizes production and nutrition.
Besides his calling to share sustainable farming with his community, Ishmael is also a proud member of the Lemba tribe; a group of African Jews who settled in southern Africa hundreds of years ago. The Lemba kept some Jewish traditions for generations throughout their journeys, even without a written reference. Recently, genetic testing has proven the heritage of the Lemba people, and many Lemba people are seeking to better understand their Jewish roots. Ishmael is committed to sharing the joys of the Torah and the good news of Yeshua (Jesus) the Jewish Messiah with his Lemba family.
